So today i’ve started getting into all this web 2.0 stuff and blah blah blah. Found a lot of interesting sites so far. Supposedly this is supposed to help me for the SAT (along with VocabSushi, MathLand or whatever). Writing a 10 minute “blog” post is like writing an SAT essay. Ok, great logic. Not. This does seem like a pretty cool site though. Much more interesting than “Write about this banana. What do you see in it? Does it reflect consumerism by being yellow?” I go through these stages on the internet. A few months ago it was free stuff. Now its “well-placed pixels”, to steal a blog’s title. Being sick probably helps. When else do I have time to spend hours in front of my computer finding community-driven sites? By the way, Great Web Apps, the blog, is absolutely amazing for finding all sorts of creative and intuitive web 2.0 apps. Unless you agree with Wired that the web is dead, but that’s another story.
You know what this site needs? An auto-pause function. I feel like I’ve cheated my 10 minutes by spending most of it thinking what to write. Maybe make it optional? (I know some of you out there will say that thinking is part of writing)
Textile is the formatter for text on this site. I love that name. It’s a cute play on editing and text. I get the symbolism. Very cute, Textile, very cute.
Prezi is going to be the next powerpoint. It’s incredible. No longer are there boring slides that just have text that most people read anyway. Prezi is Slideshow 2.0. Completely interactive, no more “can you go back 3 slides?”. Prezi is editable while using it, so comments and questions can be thrown right onto the “slide”.
And so my first post on this site comes to an end. See you tomorrow :)
